A short clip of Kate Middleton and Prince William, which was taken last Christmas and resurfaced this year, has fans swooning with joy. It shows the Duchess of Cambridge lightly and subtly sliding her hand on her husband's back during a public event. It comes just a few weeks after Kate allegedly "recoiled" when Prince William touched her in public during a moment on television.
The video, which was posted on Twitter, show Kate and Prince William walking away from the crowd after a Christmas event in 2018. Kate then nonchalantly puts her hand over her husband's lower back as they leave the people and enter another door.
Royal fans could not help but react to the subtle gesture and called Prince William and Kate's marriage as a beautiful love story. But just a few weeks back, Prince William and Kate were also the talk of the town for a different reason. Allegedly, the Duchess of Cambridge rejected her husband's PDA attempt on television.
TMZ reported that Kate appeared to be recoiling when Prince William tapped her shoulders during their guest appearance at BBC's A Berry Royal Christmas. That moment sparked speculations of troubles in the royal marriage between the second in line to the throne and his longtime love. The rumors were further fueled when Prince William and Kate took separate cars when they joined Queen Elizabeth for her Christmas lunch in Buckingham Palace.
Sources close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, however, defended that the fleeting moment on TV as something that was taken out of context, per Metro. The sources also said that Prince William and Kate were quite affectionate during the show.
In fact, the show's host, culinary expert Mary Berry, described Prince William and Kate as a "pigeon couple." Berry spent three days with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and she personally witnessed how they would constantly touch each other's arm or smile while they looked at each other.
Berry also said that Prince William and Kate's sweet moments are so natural. It was easy to tell that Prince William was also proud of his wife in the same way that she is to her husband. The TV cooking judge also added that it was "just lovely" to observe the Cambridge royals next to each other. As a pigeon couple, this means that they are together for life.
