Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle both released Christmas photos of their family in the social media accounts they share with their respective husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry. The timing of the releases, however, has some royal fans asking if the Duchess of Cambridge is deliberately trying to outshine the Duchess of Sussex.
Prince Harry and Meghan's much-awaited Christmas card was finally unveiled as a black and white e-card on Christmas Eve. This was posted from one of their patronages' social media accounts. It showed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the background with their son Archie Harrison taking up the foreground and the center of attention.
The next day, Kate also released a black and white photo of her growing brood with Prince William kissing his son Prince Louis, as Prince George and Princess Charlotte smiled for the cameras. The Duchess of Cambridge was not in the picture, however, since she was the one behind the camera.
After the release of Kate's Christmas Day photo, a royal fan said that Prince William and Kate appeared to be trying to one-up Prince Harry and Meghan's digital Christmas e-card release. Another royalist said that Prince William and Kate looked like they were stealing Prince Harry and Meghan's thunder and that the Sussexes would better off leaving the royal family.
Prince Harry and Meghan's Christmas card release also became controversial after the Daily Mail, released a reportalleging that Meghan's image was photoshopped so that she would appear sharper in the photo. However, Janina Gavankar slammed the Daily Mail for their malicious reporting.
As Meghan's friend and the person who actually took the photo, Gavankar posted the actual Christmas card image of the Sussexes to show that there were no alterations to it, despite what the news outlet suggested. It's unclear where Daily Mail got the version with the photoshopped image of Meghan. The site credit Sussex Royal's Instagram but the original post did not come from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
One fan noted that there's such a double standard against Meghan Markle because she "gets hammered" for what she does or how she behaved in public. Meanwhile, Kate gets the praises when she's doing the same things as Meghan.
Fans of the Duchess of Sussex demand that Prince Harry and Meghan should be treated with the same considering as Prince William and Kate. Otherwise, they vowed they will keep highlighting the double standard between Meghan and Kate in the media.
