Prince Harry joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2005 and completed the course a year later. In 2006, Prince William joined the force, completed the course, and was commissioned as Second Lieutenant. In 2017, the Duke of Sussex returned to represent Queen Elizabeth at the Sovereign’s Parade.

These are the things that the public is already aware of. However, what people didn’t know is what Prince William and Prince Harry had to deal with when they were in the military.

Major-General Paul Nanson, an army leadership guru, revealed that the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex adhered to the grueling schedule and strict rules while completing the course.

As a requirement, Prince William and Prince Harry start their day at 5 a.m. They brush their teeth, fix their room, roll their socks and form them into smiley faces and fold their shirts and jumpers into a perfect A4 rectangle.

Next, Prince William and Prince Harry will have to arrange their toothbrushes and toothpaste at the right angle. They should also arrange their clothes in the closet by color, with exactly four fingers gap between the hangers.

Prince William and Prince Harry must keep their shoes looking brand new by cleaning, scrubbing, and polishing them. By 6 a.m., the Dukes should be all set to go outside the corridor of their rooms to sing the national anthem.

Although being in the military is certainly not an easy task, Nanson believes that Prince William and Prince Harry learned a lot from their experience. “All of these skills can promote broader empowerment, self-discipline and leadership skills. They equip us for the battlefield, to fight insurgents and prepare for counter-terrorism ops,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prince William was a former air ambulance pilot, so he knows their trials and difficulties firsthand. This is the main reason why the Duke of Cambridge had been a patron of the charity’s 30 Years Saving Lives campaign.

During the gala dinner honoring the 30th anniversary of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, Prince William attended the event back in November. The future king then took the opportunity to meet with the attendees and talked to them. The Duke of Cambridge was photographed having a conversation with doctors, paramedics, and pilots.

“Having served as an air ambulance pilot myself, I am in no doubt about the crucial lifeline that air ambulances provide all over the UK. London has some of the most difficult airspaces in the world in which to offer an air ambulance service,” Prince William said. “The city is congested, and landing spaces in short supply. I landed on the London Air Ambulance helipad on multiple occasions during my job. I can tell you that it is an essential part of the medical chain in London, and speeds up the process of patients getting to care.”
