The Formula One Esports Series China Championship finally took place in Shanghai Stadium for the first time. The esports venue Hui Space opened up for the event's inauguration. Shanghai's resident Tang Tiangyu won first place too.

The Formula One Esports Series China Championship hailed its first champion who won the prize of 135,000 Chinese yuan or 19,300 USD plus a ticket to the Formula One Esports 2020 Pro Draft was declared. Tang Tiangyu, a Shanghai resident, said that he had been playing the game since 2017 and has been practicing for three hours a day to prepare for the championship.

Tang is a finance student at the Shanghai International Studies University and has been a Formula One fan for more than a decade. He claimed that he had been watching the first edition of the Formula One Grand Prix since 2004, but he was only able to buy his own simulator last year.

He added that he has not decided to play professionally yet, but he revealed that winning the competition might be his chance to join the Ferrari team. He claimed that the Chinese esports racers need more time to prepare before they face their Western counterparts.

The manager of Renault Sports Racing Guillaume Vergnas claimed that he was really impressed with the performance of the Chinese racers during the Formula One Esports Series China Championship. He hinted that since it is the first time that Esports was held in Mainland China, he would be looking forward to how the players would do during the draft.

The first Chinese development driver for the Renault Formula One Team Zhou Guanyu mirrored Vergnas' sentiment and admitted that the Chinese players this year were very impressive. He said that the event gave the Chinese players a unique way of enjoying Formula One. He added that the win and the event itself would draw more attention by next year. Zhou was the commentator during the Esports event.

The head of the digital business initiatives and esports at Formula One Julian Tan commented that esports Formula One is an attractive venture because it is unique from the other esports games. He said that it has a lot of parallels to the real world and that all the actual Formula One teams have their very own e-racing teams.

He added that the turnout of the event was very promising and that the entity is looking forward to being engaged with more Chinese drivers in real life and the virtual world of Formula One in the future.
