Royal traditions have been always respected and observed by members of the British Royal Family, especially Queen Elizabeth II. While some alterations were made in the past, the main practices are still in the core of it all.

It is not known to everyone, across the globe, that the Queen sends thousands of cards to people who are celebrating a milestone in their respective lives. While anyone could apply a request, not everyone, even U.K. residents, could be granted a card.

According to Express UK, only a select few are "eligible" to request and receive a special card from Queen Elizabeth II. As it happens, the only individuals who are qualified are those who were "naturalized" and are born in the United Kingdom. In short, only British nationals are given this kind of opportunity.

Based on claims by experts and historians, the emergence of this tradition of sending cards on behalf of the monarch was dated back in 1917. While not everyone is aware of this, the Queen has been very keen on responding to the requests made.

It is worth noting, though, that even British and neutralized nationals may not receive a card. The reason being is that the eligibility also comes with reservations.

As per the guide published by Royal UK, the very individuals who will be given greetings cards are those who are celebrating a huge milestone. It was stated that these milestones include birthday and wedding anniversaries.

For birthday greetings, Queen Elizabeth II only sends cards to individuals celebrating their 100th, 105th, and the succeeding years after. The same is also true for wedding anniversary greetings since cards will only be given to those couples who are celebrating their 60th, 65th, 70th, and the following years after.

The only way to apply for these cards is to either send a request online or download an application form and send it to Anniversaries Office. However, it was emphasized that sending via courier will not be accepted.

On the Royal UK's platform, applications can be filled out and send after, which is much more convenient. But, for a more traditional track, one can download the forms and manually filled them out. Afterward, one must personally bring it to the offices that accept the requests and application forms.

It is not clear, though, as to when the cards will be sent to the celebrators. Even so, many royal fans and supporters have been glad about this royal tradition and the fact that Queen Elizabeth II never failed to observe this throughout her reign.
