Soon, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be calling Canada their second home as plans are now being carried out for their transition into their new roles in the royal family. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Canada is supportive of the Sussex's decision to spend half their time in the North American country but this is just the beginning of the next chapter of their royal life.

In an interview with Global News, Trudeau said that they have yet to discuss Prince Harry and Meghan's security costs while living in Canada. He admitted that he still doesn't know the Sussexes final decisions or "where the dispositions are."

Trudeau also said that there are lot of things involved when cost is put on the table. He reiterated that the Canadian government will be supportive but he stated that Prince Harry and Meghan have responsibilities in this arrangement as well.

Queen Elizabeth confirmed, on Monday, after a face-to-face meeting with Prince Harry, Prince William and Prince Charles, that she is allowing Prince Harry and Meghan to step down as senior royal family members. Prior to this meeting, Her Majesty also ordered the royal offices to iron out this new arrangement for Prince Harry and Meghan's transition.

Prince Harry and Meghan chose Canada as their second home for many reasons. First, it's a British Commonwealth country, which recognizes Queen Elizabeth as their Queen. As such, the Sussex royals may still be able to receive protection from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, according to the Evening Standard.

While Prince Harry has traveled to Canada many times in the past, Meghan actually lived in the country for over six years. The Los Angeles-born former actress was based in Toronto while working on the TV series Suits.

If they become Canadian residents, they will still be required to apply for a visa if they intend to stay in the country for more than six months. For now, it's unclear how long the Duke and Duchess of Sussex intend to live in Canada this year but they said, in their statement, that they will divide their time between London and the North American country.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that Prince Harry could eventually be named the Governor-General of Canada. Apparently, up until 1952, the country's Governors-General were from Britain thus Prince Harry's potential assignment means that the tradition may continue again. According to a poll, 60 percent of Canadians agree to Prince Harry's appointment as Governor-General.
