Chicago Fire season 8 episode 12 will air this Wednesday night on NBC, with the title "Then Nick Porter Happened." The episode proved to be an exciting one since it would feature Stella's birthday surprise for Severide. Yet, things wouldn't go that easy as they need to deal with some problems first before the celebration.

In Chicago Fire season 8 episode 12, Stella is asking some ideas to surprise Severide on his birthday. A sneak peek of the upcoming episode shows Stella telling Cruz and Ritter she's planning to surprise Severide on his upcoming birthday. However, finding the right place to take him is not that easy, so she asked some ideas to make the surprise memorable.

Good thing, Ritter's boyfriend is a travel agent and he could help them plan the celebration. Since Chicago Fire season 8 episode 12 will highlight Stella's surprise for Severide, the episode may probably give viewers a little bit of romance for the two. Many were rooting for their relationship within the One Chicago world and the upcoming episode proved to be an exciting one for them.

But, before the celebration, they need to deal with some problems first. Their plan was interrupted because of a series of false alarms at a private school. This would be a problem for them since it hinders the ability of the firehouse to respond to legitimate emergency calls. They could be off their guard for actual emergencies, which could be problematic for all of them.

As for what else is coming on Chicago Fire season 8 episode 12, Brett and Cruz will rent out their extra room. However, the new tenant is more than they bargained for. According to CarterMatt, the episode title might be tied with this particular storyline; it's possible that "Nick Porter" is their new roommate, and then proved himself terrible in the process.

In another related report, show executive producer Derek Haas spoke with CarterMatt and discussed Severide's future, as well as some big events for Cruz. When asked whether or not Severide is now done with OFI, he said Lt. Seager appreciated having Severide's expertise next to her -- hinting that we'll still see him at some point with OFI.

As for Cruz, Haas revealed the character will get married this season. He said that they wanted to make an "interesting, new, only-in-Chicago" wedding. He also shared they will not be doing it at the very end of the season, instead, they're planning to do it beforehand. Severide is the best man, while Stella would be on the bride's side as well.

Chicago Fire season 8 episode 12 arrives on Wednesday, Jan. 22, on NBC.
