Chicago Fire season 8 episode 5 is scheduled to release next week, and this episode will perhaps highlight Joe Cruz and his heartbreak. It looks like the character needs to deal with several things in this episode, particularly when it comes to his pain.

In Chicago Fire season 8 episode 5, Joe needs to deal with his heartbreak. We learned in the previous episode that his girlfriend, Chloe, wanted a break, and she didn't give him enough reason as to why she wanted it. This is painful for him, especially with what happened to him recently.

His girlfriend's decision was totally out of the blue, and it was gut-wrenching for him as it both came after Otis's death, and right before he was going to propose. In the upcoming episode, Joe needs to nurse his heart and continue doing his job as a fighter at the same time.

Now, the question is: is there hope for him romantically? It feels like he's going to find ways to work things out. Also, the decision of Chloe was probably influenced by the recent behavior of Joe, or there's something else that bothers her. Hopefully, they'd go back together as some viewers are rooting for them.

In another part of Chicago Fire season 8 episode 5, we should also be prepared for a big Stella Kidd story as she continued working some of her leadership skills. She needs to prove herself at the National Firefighter Leadership Conference.

We're also going to see something fun happen for Mouch -- who's usually the source of great comedic relief at the firehouse. He will try to keep everyone in the firehouse informed by starting a newsletter. However, things get immediately out of hand. What did he do? We'll find that out when the new episode arrives next week.

Meanwhile, the previous episode came with a big crossover event. At the beginning of the episode, it featured the characters enjoying some time together while tailgating a Chicago Bears game. Later on, however, they learned about infection and some deadly bacteria.

The episode showed Chicago's finest first responders working together to resolve a dangerous situation. The episode is also a foundation for everything that will happen as the series goes on; thus, likely setting up more crossover events in the future.

Chicago Fire season 8 episode 5, titled "Buckle Up," will air on Wednesday, October 23, on NBC.
