Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth were rumored to have a love-hate relationship despite the fact that the two Royals maintain a "friendly" front during public events. Now, new reports suggested that Her Majesty had doubts about the Duchess of Cambridge before she officially tied the knot with Prince William.

New Idea reported that Queen Elizabeth hurt Kate's feelings when she doubted the younger Royal. The entertainment news publication claimed there was a point when the Queen started wondering if Pippa Middleton's sister is the right woman for Prince William. This, according to NI, is because of the fact that Kate and William had an on-again, off-again romance.

The outlet claimed Queen Elizabeth distanced herself from Kate Middleton after her split from Prince William. Though Her Majesty had already restored her close relationship with Prince Harry's brother at the time, she had to do it to protect herself and the throne. The Queen was, allegedly, afraid that William and Kate's frenzied relationship will, eventually, end up to another Royal divorce - just like what happened between Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Queen Elizabeth also thought Kate did not do enough in the early days of her relationship with Prince William. This, according to Phil Dampier, is the main reason why it took the mom of three about eight years before she was officially welcomed as part of the Royal family.

"[Prince] William, because of what happened to his mother, was very protective of her and always has been since then," Phil claimed, as per Express. "She [Kate Middleton] only does what she wants to do and is comfortable with and isn't put under too much pressure and scrutiny. His family's been his number one priority," he added.

Aside from doubting Kate, Queen Elizabeth was also rumored to have criticized the lifestyle of Prince William's ladylove. Royal biographer Katie Nicholl claimed, in her book called The Making of a Royal Romance, that Her Majesty was not impressed with Kate's frolicsome display of wealth. It was claimed that the daughter of Carole Middleton had no full-time job, at the time, and had been spotted at party houses many times over.

The royal biographer stated the Queen thought it was kind of unbecoming and lazy that Kate Middleton did not have a full-time job after finishing college. Her Majesty, allegedly, said that "a future member of the family was without a full-time job was unacceptable."

Despite this, it seems like Queen Elizabeth and Kate have already developed a closer relationship now. The mother of Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Princes Louis, 1, is also considered as one of the most hard-working members of the Royal family right now. Aside from parenting her three kids with Prince William, she has been attending numerous royal engagements and working with various charities.
