Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shocked the world upon announcing that they are already stepping down as senior members of the British Royal Family. While Queen Elizabeth II already gave her blessing, several publications claimed that Prince Charles has been having fears over the Megxit controversy.

According to Mirror UK, palace sources revealed that the Prince of Wales deems this move made by the Sussex couple as the "beginning of the end" for the Duke and Duchess' association with the Royal Family. It was even described by the senior royal as an "utter tragedy" as per the publication.

It was further asserted that the next person in line to the throne felt the need to bring the couple back "into the fold" before things get too late. The reason being is that Prince Charles reportedly now "realizes" the benefits of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for the "popularity" of the British Monarchy.

Although it was previously claimed that the future King plans to "slim down" the monarchy once he takes the throne, sources recently shared that he felt "disappointed" with the Sussex couple's abrupt decision to leave the royal life. As it happened, Prince Charles already spoke with Prince Harry and Prince William a few months ago about their roles in the future, the source added.

As he assumes the highest position in the monarchy, the plan was for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to "be primed" and get ready for the "long-held traditions" of the Royal Family. On the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's part, they will have "far more fluid roles" while keeping everything in place.

The source continued that the royal siblings were in "complete agreement" and "committed" to making it all work out. But, things became quite different when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry came back to the United Kingdom after their six-week break from royal duties. Accordingly, this truly became a huge surprise and disappointment on Prince Charles' end.

In a scoop published by Express UK, it is likely that the Sussex couple did not inform the rest of the Royal Family about their "bombshell" announcement. Hence, it is possible that this made it much more disappointing on the Prince of Wales' part.

But, despite all of the unpleasant emotions, the sources also revealed that Prince Charles has remained positive and "determined" to keep Meghan Markle and Prince Harry "at the heart" of the monarchy. It was not revealed, though, as to what is the reason behind.

Even so, it is worth noting that the Buckingham Palace, as well as Queen Elizabeth II, already released an official statement about the so-called Megxit controversy. It was cleared out that the final decision toward the Sussex couple's plans will start to take effect in the coming spring.
