Huawei has started pushing out its own version of Android 10, and officially, the company's mobile OS, known as EMUI 10, will be coming to flagship devices that were released from the last quarter of 2018 up to 2019. In fact, EMUI 10 already resides on a number of premium handsets like the P30 and Mate 30 series.

However, January has been marked as the official arrival time of EMUI 10, which should mean all Huawei devices in the variants mentioned above will be upgraded to the new OS version. As noted, a number of models were bumped up last year but the scheduled rollout in the month is expected to cover all compatible devices, namely:

  •  Huawei P30 Pro
  •  Huawei P30
  •  Huawei Mate 20 Pro
  •  Huawei Mate 20
  •  Huawei Mate 20 X (4G)
  •  Huawei Nova 5T

According to XDA Developers, the models listed will receive the new mobile OS within the month but for some, there will be slight delays as always the case in the Android update process. It should be noted that a mid-range model, the Nova 5T, has been lumped with Huawei's flagship phones, which likely could be due to similarities in inner components.

The Chinese device manufacturer also listed a host of other recent devices that will also get EMUI 10. The classification for these handsets is they'll be upgraded in the coming months, which also means that no specific timing has been provided. The only consolation is these phone models will surely get moved up, and they are the following:

  •  Porsche Design Huawei Mate 20 RS
  •  Huawei Mate 20 X(5G)
  •  Huawei P30 lite
  •  Huawei Nova 4e
  •  Huawei P20
  •  Huawei P20 Pro
  •  Huawei Mate 10
  •  Huawei Mate 10 Pro
  •  Porsche Design Huawei Mate 10
  •  Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS
  •  Huawei Mate 20 lite
  •  Huawei P Smart 2019
  •  Huawei P Smart + 2019
  •  Huawei P Smart Pro
  •  Huawei P Smart Z
  •  Huawei Nova 4
  •  Huawei Nova Lite 3

For the users of these EMUI 10 recipients, it should be comforting to know that Google apps and services will continue to function without a glitch as the phone models were released before the Google ban was implemented.

However, the likelihood of these handsets still moving to Android 11 cannot be determined at this time. If the spat between the U.S. government and China, which caught Huawei in the middle, can be ironed out quickly, then there is a flicker of chance it can happen.

In any case, EMUI 10 is deemed to be a significant jump from the last version, according to WCCFTech. Some of the most notable enhancements are the following: redesigned UI, system-wide dark theme, new animations, multi-screen collaboration, improved performance, and security features.

To manually check if the update is ready to download and install, here is the quick route to follow: Settings> About Phone> Software Update> Check for update.
