A Chinese short-form video application similar to TikTok has been utilized in China as a platform to raise awareness about the symptoms of the emerging Wuhan coronavirus. The platform has also launched an information page featuring a video effect that shows support for medical staff and patients suffering and extending their help to affected citizens.

The Chinese video app Doyuin has added features that relate to the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus to spread awareness of the growing global epidemic. The developer has added features that allow users to raise awareness of the spreading virus along with relevant information that help people from contracting the disease.

Douyin was also referred to as an outlet for medical practitioners handling the coronavirus cases and for patients who have been affected by it.

Known as the #FightPneumonia page, the spread consists of reports and analysis on recent developments and measures taken by health officials to keep the virus from spreading. Analyst Daniel Ahmad shared with his Twitter account that the 'Jiayou' effect of the app allows people to share positive feedback and uplift the souls of those affected. The term, which was explained to mean 'add oil', was also added to the official Oxford English Dictionary last year. In practice, it meant spreading encouragement, which is what the medical practitioners use the feature for.

Celebrities, influences, and other users of the application have also been posting videos on the app to show their support for patients and the health professionals that cater to these patients. The messages they post online were said to be uplifting ones to help the patients survive despite adversity.

In other news, Aljazeera reported that just this Friday, China has broadened its lockdown coverage to 20.5 million people. The Chinese government was said to be more involved with containing the virus in Wuhan after it had killed at least 25 people and infected 830 others.

On the same day, Beijing also reported that two coronavirus-related deaths outside of Wuhan had been declared. The city claimed that over six cities would be included in the lockdown including central China's province Wuhan and at least 10 other big cities in China.

The Wuhan lockdown had been implemented since Thursday, January 23, 2020. The mandate has compelled authorities to barricade streets, malls, and other public places including the animal market where the disease was believed to have originated. Masks have also been given out to residents and in Chinese airports as a preventive measure against the spread of the epidemic outside Chinese territory.
