It's been three years since President Donald Trump took an oath as the 45th President of the United States. To commemorate the event, First Lady Melania Trump shared a throwback photo of her during the Inauguration Day but it didn't land right to some netizens.

On January 21, Melania posted a close-up photo of her during POTUS' inauguration at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol Building. In the snap, FLOTUS was wearing a powder blue dress and square diamond earrings. Her hair was piled up and she has a huge smile on her face.

"It is a great honor to serve the people of this incredible country," Melania captioned the photo along with the hashtag #InaugurationDay2017 and a U.S. flag.

The throwback photo, however, sparked a backlash from netizens who many mocked FLOTUS. Some Twitter users challenged FLOTUS to mention what she has done for the US.

Others also mentioned how FLOTUS looked scared and unhappy during the inauguration. Another shared a GIF of Melania when her smile turned to a frown after the president turned around.

"We all saw the video showing how frightened you were of him, smiling to his face and looking like you wanted to die once he turned away from you. Don't try to sell him to us now," one netizen said.

However, some social media users defended FLOTUS and disagreed on critics' attacks on her. A netizen commented that Melania is such an intelligent and graceful First Lady.

During the 2017 inauguration, Donald Trump was not the only one who made history. Melania Trump too. She is the only First Lady born in a non-English speaking country and the first naturalized citizen to become FLOTUS.

Melania is also the only First Lady to be the third wife of a U.S. president. Donald Trump was previously married to Ivana Trump and Marla Maples.

Meanwhile, the throwback photo was not the only post of Melania that was mocked by netizens this week. The 49-year-old former model also received backlash after she posted about the Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Melania shared a simple "MLK Day" tweet with a message about honoring the late civil rights activist. But again, many mocked FLOTUS for allegedly being ignorant of the importance of the MLK Day. She was also mocked for supposedly being a birther, which refers to a person who promotes the incorrect belief that former US president Barack Obama was born outside the United States.
