Prince Charles is hoping to visit Tehran, the capital of Iran, one day and become a peacemaker. As tensions between the Iran and the Western countries escalate, including the U.K., the Prince of Wales believes that he can significantly help smooth things over.

According to BBC, Prince Charles was quoted as personally saying that he would like to go to Iran. He said that the Iranians are "really remarkable people" who have contributed so much to the world for centuries. He added that he's long been fascinated by their culture, architecture and craftsmanship.

Like many global leaders, Prince Charles' fervent prayer is for just and lasting peace. The Iranians' relationship with the British, however, has had a few hitches after a British-Iranian citizen, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, was arrested in the Middle Eastern country in 2016 for spying and allegedly planning to topple the Iranian government.

Britain's Iranian ambassador, Rob Macaire, also left the country in early January this year after a brief detention for allegedly inciting protesters. Sources said that the ambassador received threats to his life.

The last time the Prince of Wales was in Iran was in 2004 to work with the British Red Cross after parts of the city of Bam was struck by a devastating earthquake. Apparently, Prince Charles made plans to return to Iran shortly before Zaghari-Ratcliffe was captured. Sources at the palace, however, stated that there are no official plans for Prince Charles to visit Iran any time soon.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles evaded questions about the problems within his family amid the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are now living in Canada after Queen Elizabeth allowed them to step back from their royal duties.

The Prince of Wales, however, hinted that he's trying to patch things up with his son and daughter-in-law. In an interview with the Sunday Times, Prince Charles said that he's been praying very hard for peace, not just in the world but also in his family.

Sources disclosed that a contingency plan is being worked out in case Prince Harry and Meghan decide to return to London. Should they return, however, the Sussex royals may still not be given any royal duties. The sources also said that Prince Charles, and even Prince William, have been talking to Prince Harry and Meghan since they left for Canada.
