Barack and Michelle Obama are still making the headlines despite no longer being in positions inside the White House. They are seemingly enjoying the freedom and privacy of the new chapter of their lives.
Earlier this month, they were spotted in Hawaii as they celebrated the New Year in the state, along with some members of their family. Some photos of the former First Couple even emerged after showing depicting how much they enjoyed their vacation.
According to Express UK, Barack and Michelle have frequented Hawaii over the years. Aside from the great beaches and sceneries that the state offer, it was revealed that this is the former US President's hometown. So, it is not surprising why they always spend most of their free time there.
During the holiday season, the couple flew to Hawaii to celebrate Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. Along with their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, they stayed in a local town since December 16.
While Barack and Michelle Obama stayed much longer in the area since they seemingly waited for the New Year's arrival, the former First Daughters reportedly left shortly after Christmas. Even so, sources from the publication revealed that the former First Couple welcomed the New Year with Barack Obama's sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng and her family.
After the New Year's celebration, several reports revealed that they all enjoyed a great hosting from Ya-Ya's Chophouse and Seafood. It was shared that it is a "lavish restaurant" that serves seafood and steak.
As per People, the local restaurant posted some photos of the night with Barack and Michelle Obama on their social media account. The photos were said to come with a caption honoring and thanking the former First Couple. The restaurant also reportedly noted that Barack Obama "will always have a seat" at their table.
Aside from the photos taken at the said restaurant, the magazine also shared a photo of the former President as he rides his paddleboard shirtless. This was said to be taken before the family's visit to the local restaurant.
Although things appear to be quite great for Barack and Michelle Obama, the former First Lady previously revealed with the same publication that they are still "re-adjusting" getting used to living alone again. This comes after their youngest daughter's departure for college.
Amid the "re-adjustment period," Michelle also recently talked about how she and Barack "rediscovered" their time. She then revealed that they are "taking advantage" of this period to spend more time with each other.
