More people would want Prince William to become the next king instead of his father, Prince Charles. Meanwhile, a new rumor emerged that the father and son are fighting for the British throne.

In a new poll conducted by the Daily Express this week, a majority of its readers think the Duke of Cambridge should succeed Queen Elizabeth II instead of Prince Charles. In the survey, about 13,547 of its readers were asked whether or not Charles should step aside so William could become the next King.

Out of these numbers, over 61 percent think the Prince of Wales should give way, while 38.4 percent believe Charles should remain as the next in line of succession. About 1.5 percent wished not to express their opinion on the matter.

The new survey came after Charles has been accused by some netizens of being too "political." The future king came under attack this week after he flew to Davos to speak at the World Economic Forum about climate change. He also met with climate environmentalist Greta Thunberg.

The majority of the poll respondents believe Charles is becoming too far political. Many said as a king, the Prince of Wales should not involve himself in politics.

In related news, the National Enquirer claimed Prince Charles and Prince William are fighting on who should better take the throne after Queen Elizabeth died. The outlet alleged the Queen is "near death" and she had talked to Charles and William about the succession.

The tabloid cited a "high-level palace courtier" as saying the two argued about who would make the better king. The source also alleged that Charles is aware that his mother will bypass him to make William the next king.

Charles is reportedly ready to fight for his right to the throne and will do everything to ensure that he will be the next king. On the other hand, William allegedly wants to sit on the throne as soon as his grandmother steps down or died.

"William has no intention of stepping aside - and the father-son power-grab has thrown the palace into chaos and crisis like the monarchy has never seen," the source claimed.

Gossip Cop debunked the story, noting that it is unlikely that someone working at the royal palace would spill private information as such while knowing the law of succession of the British throne. According to the law, the queen has no power to name her successor. The outlet noted that the only way William could take the throne is when Charles dies or abdicates is post.
