Meghan Markle isn't truly in love with Prince Harry. She's apparently been faking it this whole time in her marriage, according to writer and feminist Germaine Greer.
In an interview with 60 Minutes in Australia, Greer said that Meghan lives in an "artificial world" even before she married the British royal. The 81-year-old public intellectual also slammed the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan as it was "full of showbiz personalities."
To Greer, being in show business is thriving in a world that is not real and won't sustain a person. Thus, the outspoken feminist believes that Prince Harry and Meghan will fade into obscurity as they've given up their privilege as titled senior royals. She said that most of Prince Harry's relatives, who do not have titles and are not senior royals, are actually "completely obscure."
In January, Queen Elizabeth confirmed that she is giving her permission for Prince Harry and Meghan to step back in the royal family. In doing so, however, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will lose their His or Her Royal Highness HRH Titles. The Queen also said that Prince Harry and Meghan will not be called upon to represent her at official functions anymore. They can live in North America and pursue their financial independence but they will no longer be working for the Queen.
But Greer also reiterated her earlier prediction that Meghan would "bolt" the royal family. Apparently, Meghan was wrong to think that she has friends inside the royal circle. She also speculated that Prince Harry fell for Meghan because she is the outsider who can be his ticket out of his family.
Fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, however, defended Meghan against Greer's attacks. According to Daily Express, viewers hit out on Greer on social media. One royal fan wrote the Greer has been resentful of Meghan from the beginning yet she hasn't had a chance to speak to Harry personally for many years.
Meanwhile, The Sun reported that Prince Harry earned $1 million for his recent speaking engagement in Miami, Florida with some highly-connected Wall Street personalities. Meghan was also at the event to introduce her husband.
Prince Harry spoke of his work on mental health charities in front of many economic leaders. This is apparently part of Prince Harry and Meghan's plan to gain financial independence after they announced that they were stepping back as senior royals.
