ABC officially renewed The Good Doctor season 4, and many were happy with the renewal announcement. The Freddie Highmore-led medical drama series is coming back for another season, bringing more romance, as well as interesting cases in the medical world.

According to CarterMatt, there is no indication the show will be canceled in the future, largely because more viewers continue watching it and the ratings keep on increasing. In addition, The Good Doctor has a strong cast and smart writing, so it only makes sense the network gave it another go.
In a report via TVLine, ABC programming head Karey Burke discussed why they renewed The Good Doctor season 4, where she pointed out it has been a cornerstone on Monday nights. She also added that one of the unique components of the series is that it fearlessly tackles inclusivity.
Burke also said David Shore's storytelling and an incredible cast led by Freddie Highmore are just some of the reasons why the series became a hit over the past three seasons. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Television co-president Jason Clodfelter said they're thankful ABC renewed The Good Doctor season 4.
He said they are thankful for the network's continued support, as well as to Shore for bringing the series to television. The Good Doctor is a drama series that shows a complicated, surprising, and emotional journey within the medical world.
As for who's coming back in The Good Doctor season 4, Highmore will reprise his role as Dr. Shaun Murphy. Other returning cast includes Nicholas Gonzalez (as Dr. Neil Melendez), Antonia Thomas (Dr. Claire Brown), Richard Schiff (Dr. Aaron Glassman), Paige Spara (Lea Dilallo), and Jasika Nicole (Dr. Carly Lever).
Meanwhile, in the third season, Shaun continues using his medical gifts at St. Bonaventure Hospital's surgical unit. Aside from the medical cases he tackles, the doctor also explores the world of dating, as well as romantic relationships.
Shaun works harder and does everything he can, while also navigating his environment to prove to everyone that his talents as a surgeon could save lives. CarterMatt noted the third installment will wrap up in spring, while the release date of season 4 is yet to be announced.
