Many things have changed in Melania Trump since her husband became the President. Aside from moving to the White House from Trump Tower in New York City, FLOTUS's fashion style has significantly changed as well.
It has been observed that Melania became more conservative in dressing up as compared to the years before she became the First Lady of the United States. A fashion expert said Melania had toned down in some ways.
Stylist Naina Singla explained to Express that Melania's wardrobe style had changed dramatically as compared to the years before she moved to the White House. Singla said people were used to seeing the fashion model back then wearing body-hugging and baby doll dresses as well as plunging necklines and miniskirts.
"But now we would not see her wearing such styles. She dropped her hemline since becoming the First Lady, and she wears more pants and pantsuits. Her look is more polished and professional," she said.
The expert assumed that Melania decided to change her style to reflect her new role in Donald Trump's life. However, Melania's outfits' tag price did not change.
Though she now opted for a more conservative look, her wardrobe is still from well-known brand names and comes with a whopping price tag. It was reported that Mrs. Trump's outfits last year have an estimated total worth of over $250,000.
Naina compared Melania's fashion choices to her predecessor, Michelle Obama. Naina said the former FLOTUS typically wore clothes that were made by less well-known designers from diverse backgrounds. Melania, on the other hand, chooses more famous designers like Burberry, Ralph Lauren, and Dior.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump got recently mocked on social media for what they called FLOTUS's fashion blunder. Netizens poked fun on how Melania wore a bright green coat on her shoulders when she and POTUS welcomed Ecuadorian President Lenín Moreno's wife Rocio Gonzalez to the White House.
During the event, Melania was seen wearing a $7,700-worth python leather pencil cut skirt. She paired it with a white sweater, green coat, and Manolo Blahnik suede stilettos.
Twitter users took notice of the way Melani wore the coat on her shoulders rather than with her arms in the sleeves. Many thought of it as a fashion faux pas.
"Your arms hanging out but not in your sleeves is getting old. Use them or wear other clothes. #notfashionablejustdumb," one tweeted.
