J-Hope recently shared during his 2020 birthday live broadcast on VLive that he likes the concept of Weverse. Just like Jin and V, who are the most active BTS members on the social media platform, the 26-year-old rapper, songwriter, dancer, and record producer also responds to ARMYs when he’s online.

One exchange between a fan and J-Hope is particularly sweet as both of them used Google Translate to get their message across. The ARMY that got the BTS star’s attention is from the Philippines. The country has a lot of languages such as Tagalog, Bisaya, Ilocano, Cebuano, Ilonggo, and more. And most Filipinos are fluent in English. However, they are not as good in Korean. So the Filipino ARMY decided to use Google Translate to share her message for BTS.

“To be honest, Korean ARMYs are very lucky to be able to communicate more than International ARMYs. But BTS also loves International ARMYs so they don’t lose hope,” the Filipino ARMY wrote. “I am using Google Translator and I don’t know if Google Translator is working properly. No words to explain how deeply I love you BTS. I’m from the Philippines and hope you will visit in Cebu soon.”

J-Hope, who wants to be fluent in English so he could communicate with International ARMYs, understood the feeling of the Filipino ARMY. So to make her feel better, the BTS rapper responded to her post by using Google Translate as well.

“Your love is a tremendous love that crosses the boundaries of language and country,” J-Hope replied.

Meanwhile, J-Hope recently impressed a lot of ARMYs with how much his English has improved. The BTS star spoke straight English during their 2020 Grammys red carpet interview with Ryan Seacrest, their iHeart Radio Live Q&A, and their appearance at The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Although Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungook spoke in English in the past, they usually rehearsed their lines. And most of the time, they answer in just one word or broken English.

This time, however, J-Hope didn’t only speak in fluent English, but he understood the questions without RM's translations. ARMYs also pointed out how confident J-Hope looks when he speaks in English. He’s very comfortable with conversing with the language now. This just goes to show that J-Hope worked so hard to be good at the language, especially because his main goal was to help RM during English interviews.
