Melania Trump received another distinction for her hard work. However, she also reportedly obtained criticisms for having the said award.

On Wednesday, the First Lady of the United States received a notable Palm Beach award at a luncheon held for the event at The Breakers. It was said that the award is the "Woman of Distinction" given annually by the Palm Beach Atlantic University to women who "cherish community and family.

According to CNN, the university has been giving the award for 28 years now. Typically, two women receive the award for each year who has "ties" to the community and its charities.

Melania Trump reportedly changed her primary residence to Palm Beach, Florida last year. Along with President Donald Trump, they have been very active in the locality for several years now.

The publication further noted that the First Couple's private beach, Mar-a-Lago, is only less than "three miles away" from the university, where the First Lady spends several weeks of each year. Also, they usually hold and attend church services, especially on religious holidays, in Palm Beach as per claims.

As added by the reports, Donald Trump's wife received the award and gave a "brief speech." She stated that she was "grateful" for having the said distinction. Aside from her gratitude and appreciation, it was said that she also "highlighted" her Be Best initiative during the speech.

While her platform aims to help children in areas that focus on three pillars namely, well-being, online safety, and opioid abuse, Melania Trump seemingly touched only on the first two aspects of the initiative.

Afterward, she reportedly "recognized" the attendees at the luncheon and thanked everyone for their support. It was said that the guests who attended the event paid for tickets.

The First Lady then explained that the proceeds of the ticket sales are for the programs designed for the female students of the school. She also went on to special mention her parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, who were said to be present at the luncheon.

While it went all successful, Melania Trump reportedly faced criticisms and a "pushback" from some of the students, parents, and alumni of the university. As it happened, these individuals were said to be filled with "disappointments" after learning that the awardee for this year is the current First Lady of the United States.

Several claims were shared revealing that some efforts were made days before the awarding ceremony to pushback the award from happening. As stated, many members of the community do not see Melania as the ideal woman to receive this year's Woman of Distinction award.
