Princess Diana was not only the People's Princess, but she was also the darling of the press. A lot of people loved the late Princess of Wales, especially the royal photographer Kent Gavin. So when the time came that she had a divorce and Prince Charles married someone new, the photojournalist admitted she was fed up of Camilla Parker-Bowles for replacing his friend.
Gavin worked with the Royal Family for decades and developed a good relationship with Princes William and Harry's mother. Their working bond clicked that they managed to produce the best photos whenever they worked together, according to Express.
Hence, when Prince Charles had to marry Camilla, he saw it as a move to replace Princess Diana in his life. Although he was sad about how things ended up for the Prince and Princess of Wales, he couldn't deny that he wanted the heir to the throne to be happy.
Anyhow, Gavin was not the only one who felt that way. Royal expert Anthony Holden revealed that a lot of journalists and photographers found Prince Charles and Camilla's marriage difficult. But, it was Gavin who found it harder because he got emotionally attached to Princess Diana.
In the 2013 Amazon Prime documentary, Royalty Close Up: The Photography of Kent Gavin, Gavin revealed he had to put his emotions aside to do his job. Holden admitted that the famed photographer got quite fed up with Camilla's coming to Prince Charles's life. "But you really have to keep your personal feelings out of the way, and your emotions, and just get on with the job," he said.
Gavin, alternatively, admitted that he had been conflicted, primarily when he was tasked to take photographs of Prince Charles and Camilla's wedding. At the time, he was thinking how sad it was that his marriage with Princess Diana went sour. But, as he still thought highly of Queen Elizabeth II's heir, he understood that he loved the Duchess of Cornwall, even at the time that he married Diana, so he should get on with his life.
Before their marriage, Prince Charles went on TV to confirm their rumored relationship. After that, Princess Diana gave a tell-all interview, where she revealed her then-husband's infidelity, questioning his ability to be the next king.
When Prince Charles and Camilla planned an important party, Princess Diana decided to ruin their plans by calling the media. In the same documentary, Cheat Sheet noted that Diana used the press to overshadow their important announcement by cartwheeling across the beach in her leopard one-piece swimsuit. At the time, Piers Morgan said that it was 1-0 to Diana.
