Ford Motors has announced a company travel restriction that would last until March 27, 20202. A spokesman for the company revealed that the decision was made separately after two of its employees were quarantined in China.

Ford Motors has announced the disallowance of all international and domestic companies travel until March 27, 2020, as a health precaution. Two Ford employees were reported to have been quarantined in China for health reasons and that the decision was made separately between the two cases, a company spokesman told Business Insider.

Ford's director of corporate and public policy communications TR Reid also added that although the company travel ban would last until March 27, the company would still continue to review the situation on a weekly basis and would not be constrained from extending the said ban whenever necessary.

The company has also urged its employees to opt for ways to complete their in-person tasks. Reid was, however, noted that some travels would be allowed whenever it concerns regional travel such as those destined for Europe and only applicable to its European employees. Those traveling within the United States who are opted by its US employees may also, be allowed.

The said exception would apply to those traveling with activities labeled as critical to the business. The said application would only encompass those that are done in-person and must ensure that the said travel would not cause undue risk to employees. Before the exception would be allowed, Reid said that the senior department leaders of the the company would need to approve them.

The report also claimed that Ford restricted travel to copy the moves of global companies transacting with China. These said companies have also banned employees travel to unsafe locations and closed offices around the world.

It was highlighted that among the companies who observed the travel ban was Fiat Chrysler who imposed the company travel restriction mandate last week. A company spokesperson for Fiat Chrysler told CNBC that the cause of the restriction was also similar to that observed by Ford Motors.

Other companies that adopted the travel restriction was Google. The the report claimed that it has stopped international business travel after one of its employees in the Zurich office was tested positive with the health issue.

Furthermore, it was revealed that Amazon told its employees last February that non-essential international and domestic travel would also be restricted. Along with Amazon, Apple, LG, Salesforce, and other companies engaged in global businesses also imposed the same mandate during that month.
