Queen Elizabeth II "donned" a pair of white gloves in the recent investiture ceremony inside the Buckingham Palace. This fashion decision made by the monarch was deemed to be a precautionary measure rather than a fashion choice considering the growing fears over the spread of Coronavirus in the United Kingdom.
According to Metro UK, several individuals noticed that this is the first time the Queen wore a pair of gloves during an investiture ceremony. Although she wore once in 1954 when the monarch was "knighting" the Air Marshall, Claude Pelly, as the Commander in Chief of the RAF Middle East Air Force, many are convinced that this was rather "dictated" by a fashion choice more than a "real necessity" for safety precautions.
But, given the current circumstance in the United Kingdom today, Queen Elizabeth II choosing to wear a pair of white gloves in the official ceremony has been a "sensible" decision. As reported by Express UK, the number of people in the United Kingdom who have tested positive for the Coronavirus, now called COVID-19, has increased to 51.
The British Government also reportedly shared with the public that the people who are much more prone to the virus are the elderly individuals and the ones who have weaker immune systems. So, it is not surprising why Queen Elizabeth II would choose to wear sensible protection against the virus.
Nevertheless, the same publication noted that the British Government led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson is "confident" that with the right precautionary measures and knowledge about the situation, they can easily fight the growing fears over the possible spreading of the disease across the country. But, despite the confidence, it was shared, though, that they are expecting the number of people who tested positive to rise from 51 in the next few weeks.
In a similar report released by the New York Post, Buckingham Palace did not respond or confirm whether Queen Elizabeth II's pair of gloves was truly a precautionary measure against the virus in question. Even so, it was stated by the Palace sources that they have been following what the British Government advised them to do amid the outbreak of the virus, not only in the United Kingdom but, to other countries across the globe as well.
It was also revealed that while Queen Elizabeth II wore her gloves during the ceremony, the case was different for Prince William and Kate Middleton as they did not wear any gloves or masks outside the country.
As reported, they are currently in Ireland for their first royal tour in the country after Britain's exit from the European Union. They arrived at Dublin Airport on Tuesday to kick-off the three-day visit.
