The Masked Singer season 3 unmasked another performer in the previous episode, and it was revealed that the Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron is the person under the Taco Mask. He was the latest performer to be eliminated this season, and the last one for Group B.
In the previous episode of The Masked Singer season 3 aired on Wednesday night, Mar. 4, it was revealed that the performer wearing the Taco costume is Bergeron. He performed Four Tops' "Can't Help Myself," where he told Variety that his performance was bizarre but wonderful.
Bergeron admitted he was shocked he lasted longer than Dionne Warwick, who was eliminated last week. But unlike last week, when the majority of the panel figured out that Warwick was under the Mouse Mask, they were completely perplexed on the Taco's identity.
Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke guessed that the performer was Martin Short, while Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg believed it was Jerry Springer. Nicole Scherzinger, on the other hand, though it was Barry Manilow, and guest panelist T-Pain (season 1's winner) guessed Kelsey Grammer.
Bergeron was surprised the judges didn't recognize him at all, especially since Thicke performed several times on Dancing with the Stars as a guest star, while Scherzinger won in the competition. He and McCarthy also know each other for years, and Jeong was the only regular judge he didn't know.
Meanwhile, showrunner Izzie Pick Ibarra recruited Bergeron to join The Masked Singer season 3. Ibarra previously served as executive producer on Dancing with the Stars. Bergeron revealed Ibarra asked him if he's interested in joining the show and he agreed as he thought it could be fun.
The first two songs Bergeron performed were Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon," and Elvis Presley's "Bossa Nova Baby." He said that he's happy with his Sinatra performance, but admitted he's worried about forgetting lyrics of Elvis' song -- yet he actually forgot his dance steps.
Bergeron's exit this season follows Group A's Lil Wayne, Drew Carey, and Chaka Khan, and Group B's Tony Hawk and Warwick. The remaining three performers in Group B -- Banana, Frog, and Kitty -- will be moving on to the Super Nine, along with Turtle, White Tiger, and Kangaroo from Group A. The Group C will be introduced in next week's episode.
The Masked Singer season 3 can be watched every Wednesday night on Fox.
