After fulfilling their last rounds of royal engagements for the Crown this week, Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to fly back to their new life in Canada. However, reports now reveal that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to travel to Los Angeles to see Meghan's mom, Doria Ragland. They are apparently bringing their son, Archie Harrison, with them.
A source told Closer Weekly that Doria is pretty excited to see her grandson again. The last time she saw the 10-month-old baby was during the holidays and she's quite overjoyed to spend time with Archie.
Last February, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were said to be looking for a house in California. Prince Harry and Meghan plan to venture into projects among their famous Hollywood circle thus they want to set up a home base in the United States, which should be conveniently closer to Ragland.
However, a source told Us Weekly previously that Meghan is not particularly close to her mother even as she's the only child. The source shared that they don't communicate regularly and that both mom and daughter live an independent life.
The source also said that while Meghan was still working as an actress, she apparently saw her mom just two times a year. Meghan was based for seven years in Toronto when she was part of the cast of Suits.
Meanwhile, the news might be a blow to Prince Harry and Meghan after they were criticized for not bringing Archie to London with them for their last royal engagements. Royal commentator Vanessa Feltz said in the program This Morningthat while the Sussex's trip was mostly work-related, they still have Archie's nanny who could look after the boy. Feltz opined that the Archie could have played with his cousins or spent time with his great-grandparents.
It comes as another source said that Her Majesty fears she will never get to see Archie again now that Prince Harry and Meghan will officially be living far away from London. Queen Elizabeth apparently wants to have a relationship with the baby.
Archie has not been back to London since Prince Harry and Meghan left for North America before Thanksgiving last year. The couple plan to spend half their time in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. but it's unclear when they will be back to London. Prince Harry and Meghan might also be hesitant to fly Archie amid the rising coronavirus scare.
