As the United Kingdom's COVID-19 case reaches almost 800 as the time of the writing, the Buckingham Palace is now reportedly being prepared for an "emergency lockdown" to protect the 93-year-old British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. Despite the cancellation of various events and engagements in the coming months, the "royal heads" are said to take no risk amid the outbreak.
As per recent reports, Europe has now become the "epicenter" of COVID-19. With Italy having the highest number of people who tested positive for the virus, as well as the number of deaths, it is not surprising why the United Kingdom is now being more cautious.
According to Express UK, several royal sources recently shared that the officials from Buckingham Palace have been now "scrambling" to draw plans and solutions to protect and isolate Queen Elizabeth II, especially when the country reaches "Italian proportions." It was also revealed that the general public has already raised an apparent concern toward the Monarch as she is very prone to contracting the virus.
The royal insiders also reportedly said that the Queen will be forced to "self-isolate" in either Balmoral or Sandringham when the COVID-19 case in the United Kingdom continues to escalate. So far, there are 798 confirmed cases and ten deaths within the vicinity of the UK.
The publication also noted that royal expert, Phil Dampier shared his thoughts about the possible emergency lockdown in Buckingham Palace. He reportedly said that it is only fitting considering Queen Elizabeth II is already of old age.
He then went on to emphasize that the Royal Family has been already setting up precautionary measures to prevent the contraction of the virus. As for the British Monarch, the royal expert referenced how the Queen wore a pair of gloves as she handed the medals and pins for the investiture a few days ago.
As added by Woman & Home, Queen Elizabeth II also refrains from shaking hands with people, even during her recent meeting with the Sri Lankan Commissioner, Saroja Sirisena, who was also with her husband, Dr. Sudath Talpahewa. She also reportedly cancelled some of her events and engagements in the next few months.
Despite all the preparations and plans to protect the Monarch, as well as the members of the British Royal Family, it was said that the Buckingham Palace has not yet fully executed its ultimate precautionary measures since this might cause further panic among the public. Accordingly, forcing Queen Elizabeth II to "self-isolate" was said to be the "last resort" that they will all go into once the COVID-19 case worsens in the United Kingdom.
