Due to the coronavirus outbreak in the U.K., Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, reportedly, had to cancel their upcoming tour of Europe. The royal couple, just like Queen Elizabeth II, also gone to isolation to keep them safe from contracting the virus as people who were over 70 years old were said to be more susceptible of the disease.
The Duke and Duchess, who are 71 and 72, respectively, were supposed to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, and Jordan later this month. However, due to the widespread of Covid-19, their state visits are now canceled.
Clarence House announced, via New Idea, that due to the unfolding situation with the coronavirus pandemic, the British Government asked "Their Royal Highnesses to postpone this spring tour to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, and Jordan." However, knowing how Prince Charles has a hectic work schedule, carrying out several engagements a week, he and his team are still working remotely.
A source told Press Association, per Hello! Magazine, that they set up a virtual, digital office at Clarence House to continue their work amidst the coronavirus outbreak. "The prince is operating as close to business as usual as possible at the moment," the insider added.
Prince Charles recently carried out an investiture event at Buckingham Palace on behalf of Queen Elizabeth. He also attended a dinner for the Australian Bushfire Appeal.
In addition, Camilla's husband graced the Prince's Trust Awards to celebrate the young people's achievements with the help of his charity. Aside from the Prince of Wales, a lot of celebrities were also at the event, like Ant and Dec, Craig David, and Pierce Brosnan.
Prince Charles was also at the WaterAid Summit, where he was along with other government representatives, community members, and business leaders. One of the event's guests was Prince Albert of Monaco, who now tested positive for coronavirus.
The future king and queen consort's canceled trips come after the news that Queen Elizabeth has to leave London to move to Windsor Castle as the people with coronavirus in the U.K. increase. Buckingham Palace confirmed the 93-year-old royal would be staying at her Windsor estate for her Easter break, although it was one week earlier than planned.
It is also more likely that Queen Elizabeth will stay there beyond the Easter period or until the U.K. is out of the grip from coronavirus pandemic. The move was said to be a sensible precaution and for practical reasons due to the current circumstances.
