President Donald Trump ordered the closure of schools and other establishments in the United States to flatten the curve amidst the coronavirus outbreak in the country. As kids' formal studies will be halted, his wife, Melania Trump, asked children to continue learning virtually while staying at home, which received mockeries and insults from the netizens.
According to Daily Mail, the POTUS released a series of coronavirus guidelines to avoid the widespread of coronavirus in the U.S. He called for a lockdown of America that included the closing of schools and restaurants.
The Trump administration recommends all Americans to engage in homeschooling if possible. They also suggest avoiding mass gatherings, unnecessary traveling, and eating and drinking in bars, restaurants, and public food courts.
To support her husband, Melania Trump encouraged children to continue their studies online while they are staying at home. "Virtual learning is a great way to keep children engaged while home from school," she tweeted.
The First Lady of the United States then recommended Story Time-Space, which offers "children the opportunity to have real astronauts." She also seemed to suggest parents read their kids a book from Space Station, giving them a link.
However, Melania Trump was criticized for her move. She received mockeries for encouraging kids to continue their studies online when she didn't even have a college degree. A lot of people were questioning the former model's education after she was caught lying about graduating with a degree in fashion when, in fact, she didn't.
"Is that how you got your college degree and learned six different languages?" one Twitter user asked. Another one found the FLOTUS as a wrong person to give children advice, asking her to free the kids at the border. Also, a netizen pointed out that not all kids have the internet, a computer, or even food at home to do what she was saying.
According to NBC News, Melania Trump's official bio suggested that she didn't complete a college degree in Slovenia, which opposed her previous claim. Her bio on Donald Trump's government website noted that she stopped studying to advance her modeling career in Milan and Paris. However, it didn't reveal if she continued or even completed her degree.
Melania Trump's personal site, on the other hand, mentioned that she had a degree in design and architecture in an unnamed university in her home country of Slovenia. But, there were questions if this information was correct.
