Huawei's P40 series flagship phones will be finally introduced in a global online event this Thursday. Not surprisingly, leaks always manage to make its way before the official launch, this time courtesy of Ishan Agarwal.
In a tweet, Agarwal posted a photo showing the Huawei P40 Pro with a "Leica Ultra Vision" quad-camera setup, which includes a 50MP primary sensor. Joining the high-res primary sensor is a time-of-flight sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 40MP telephoto lens, which is believed to have a 50x "SuperSensing Zoom" capability.
The Huawei P40 Pro is expected to support 40W wireless charging and will pack a 4,200mAh battery. It will be powered by a Kirin 990 5G chipset and sport a 6.58-inch curved display with 32MP dual hole-punch cameras.

As for the regular P40, it will possibly have a smaller display at 6.1 inches and a single hole-punch cutout with a 32MP selfie camera. It also supports wireless charging at 27W, while wired charging is at 40W with a 3,800mAh battery.
The back of the Huawei P40 has a tri-cam setup that includes an 8MP sensor, 16MP sensor, and a 50MP primary sensor. Though it will have the same XD Fusion Engine as the P40 Pro in its cameras, its telephoto lens will only support up to 30x zoom.
It's expected that Huawei's upcoming flagship series will have 5G support, unlike last year's P30 model that lacked the next-gen network. It has been spotted at the Chinese regulatory body for mobile tech -- the TENAA -- that two upcoming devices from Huawei will be 5G capable.
5G was far from perfect in 2019, but as with most technological innovations, improvements are to be expected, especially this year, wherein the next-gen network will be expanded in more locations.
It's quite difficult to imagine how an Android phone would work without Google apps, particularly those living outside of China, but as far as the company is concerned, nothing can stop its efforts in pushing for the impossible.
Many tech events have already been postponed or canceled due to the ongoing health crisis, but Huawei is not going to let anything stop it from pursuing its 2020 plans. The Chinese telecom behemoth will unveil its next-gen P40 series as scheduled, though no mass gathering will happen. The P40 launch will be held via a virtual event instead on March 26th with an expected release date sometime after.
