Renee Felice Smith might be leaving NCIS: Los Angeles and her character Nell Jones at some point. Her departure was teased in the previous episode, titled "Fortune Favors the Brave," where she revealed she's planning to leave the team.
Nell faced a huge decision about her future in the recent episode of NCIS: Los Angeles. She's considering a departure from the team, though her reason is quite unclear. Her only reason is that she didn't feel like it was right for her anymore.
In the episode, Nell revealed to Kensi that she's planning to resign from the team. She told her that she does not even want to get out of bed and go to work anymore. It was unconvincing at first, especially since her decision was so sudden.
Later on, Nell had a moment with Hetty and they talked about this matter. The latter then encouraged her to take a vacation instead. Hetty is basically refusing Nell's resignation and wants her to take her time to figure things out for herself.
The question now here is whether or not Nell will choose to stay with the team. The character has been a huge part of the team, as well as NCIS: Los Angeles for a long time. In addition, Nell is smart, dedicated, resourceful, and contributed a lot of things to the team.
Nell is also known for having dealt with some tricky missions. So, it wouldn't make sense if the character would leave NCIS: Los Angeles just like that. Her relationship with Eric Beale is also interesting to explore, and the two got together in season 10.
But then, throughout season 11, there have been hints that both characters might be leaving at some point. Moreover, speculations further fuelled when Eric didn't appear in the first few episodes of the current installment.
For now, CarterMatt noted that Nell's departure may not be answered in the next few weeks, given that the series halted its production. Thus, if ever there's a plan for the character's departure, then it will likely be shown in season 12.
The next episode is set to air on Sunday night, Apr. 12, on CBS. The promo for this episode has been released, but Nell is nowhere to be found. Hence, viewers need to in the series to find out more about Nell's future.
