Korean actors have a legion of fans all around the world who are willing to do everything for them and in the case of a British man, his wife was willing to leave him to be with Healer actor Ji Chang Wook, or, as it turned out, someone who was posing as him online.
The story was revealed by YouTuber Jina Kim when one of her subscribers asked her for help on how to report a scammer from South Korea pretending to be Ji Chang Wook.
According to a report by Koreaboo, the unfortunate husband shared his story to Jina and told her about his wife who wanted to file a divorce from him when she came into contact with the actor Ji Chang Wook on social media.
"My wife is becoming a victim of this Korean actor, Ji Chang Wook, and he has lots of different accounts on Facebook and Instagram," the man who identified himself only as John, said.
According to John, he was surprised to learn that his wife wanted to ask for a divorce after she met Ji Chang Wook online. The husband said that he tried to convince his wife that the person she was talking to was a poser because celebrities don't go around messaging people online to seek attention. His wife would not listen.
John further said that "Ji Chang Wook" was messaging his wife non-stop, which was weird given he was a busy celebrity. One of the red flags he also noticed about their communication was that the messages were all in English.
His wife's "Ji Chang Wook" also asked John's wife for money to start his own company, leaving the husband desperate to find a way to dissuade his wife against her illusions.
To help the beleaguered husband, the YouTuber referred John to Ji Chang Wook's label but the agency did not follow up on the report. However, the true hero of the tale was revealed to be John's sister, who created her own fake account to bait "Ji Chang Wook."
The poser took the bait and tried to engage John's sister similar to what he did with his wife. Luckily, John's wife has come to her senses and has reconciled with her husband.
The real Ji Chang Wook, on the other hand remains oblivious to the harassment that his poser caused the British couple as he is currently busy reviewing his next acting project.
Ji Chang Wook is, reportedly, considering the new drama Convenience Store Saet Byul which revolves around a quirky and mischievous part-time worker and her handsome but clumsy manager at a 24-hour convenience store. Ji Chang Wook will, reportedly, star opposite Kim You Jung for the latest project.
