While the rest of the world fell head over heels with Hyun Bin, who played North Korean soldier Captain Ri Jong Hyeok in the smash hit Crash Landing on You, a YouTuber is claiming that North Korean don't think he is as handsome as their great leader Kim Jong Un.

According to North Korean Man, a YouTuber who defected from NoKor, women in his country don't find Hyun Bin as appealing compared to the likes of Kim Jong Un, reported Koreaboo.

The controversial statement may raise the eyebrows of the actor's global fans but there is a reason behind the YouTuber's claim. According to him, people in North Korea associate rounder features with wealth and abundance and prefer those who look healthier.

"In North Korea, only the wealthy people have bellies. So their standard of beauty is different from South Korea, too. In North Korea, men with more meat on their bones are considered attractive. They treat skinny guys like me as if I'm a mutt," he said.

He also said that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was also on the skinnier side before but gained weight because he wanted to earn the people's trust as an upper executive.

The vlogger further compared Hyun Bin's appeal to heavier stars like Ma Deong Seok and said that in North Korea, the Train to Busan actor will be preferred more by the women.

Despite his reported lack of appeal among North Korean women, Hyun Bin is having no trouble winning the hearts of Kdrama fans in different parts of the world with his good looks and kind heart.

It can be recalled that at the height of the Coronavirus pandemic sweeping the world, the actor took time out to ask fans to be careful and stay healthy through a heartfelt letter. He also secretly donated 200 million won to efforts to combat the disease in South Korea when the country reported an alarming spike in the number of cases, rendering some cities as special care zones.

Hyun Bin also proved that he is a hard worker after selecting his next film project so soon after the success of Crash Landing on You, reported Soompi

The actor has been confirmed to star in a film entitled Bargaining which will revolve around a kidnapping incident in the Middle East and the attempt to rescue the victims. The film which also stars veteran actor Hwang Jung Min, will reportedly be shot on location abroad.
