Tesla's Model S and Model X Raven models will soon get an update, at least according to a new leak. A software update will make way for a new version of "Launch Mode," bringing with it some powertrain upgrades and adaptive suspension for better performance.

A Tesla leaker, simply known as "green," has revealed that the EV maker's upcoming update will make changes to the vehicles' Autopilot system and Launch Mode to allow it to respond automatically to stop signs and traffic lights.

The upcoming update should improve traction when launching the EV from a standstill by way of changing its stance through the Adaptive Suspension system, which is only available on the Model S and Model X.

According to the release notes, the updated version of Launch Mode "provides optimum acceleration for closed circuit driving and surfaces with good traction. Please set suspension to LOW prior to launch."

The new Launch Mode is being referred to as "Cheetah Stance," which is a reference to the giant cat's visible short height on its front legs. This form makes it easier to launch after prey by improving its traction, which in turn makes high-speed chases more effective and successful. Tesla hopes to replicate this stance to the Model S and Model X by making upgrades to Launch Mode.

What's unclear for the moment is the timeline for when Cheetah Stance will roll out. It seems like a safe bet to expect it to be made available via over-the-air updates. While the leak says it will only release for the new Model S and Model X Raven models, we're hoping other Tesla EVs will have the feature as well.

As of writing, the Model 3 and Model Y doesn't look like it will get updated soon. However, Tesla's entry-level model may soon get air suspension. As for the new crossover SUV, it will most likely remain as is.

Tesla has repeatedly said that it wants drivers to experience some of the top-performing cars this generation has to offer. Its EVs are some of the finest machines on the market today, and its ability to roll out over-the-air software updates is one of a kind.

The upcoming update is expected to make revisions to Tesla's Driving Visualization as well, apart from the enhanced Launch Mode. Asked to comment on the story, Tesla has not responded yet, but the leaker seems quite sure changes are bound to happen soon.
