Donald Trump has shocked the public, once more, after his statements on Friday toward the press. As it happened, the US President, reportedly, said that he does not intend to wear face masks, despite the warnings and advice given by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
It was said that the CDC has issued new guidelines for the American public to help decrease the risk of contracting the novel coronavirus. One of the most recent recommendations included the advice to wear "bandanas, t-shirts, and cloth-based" coverings or masks, especially hot crowded areas.
According to The Guardian UK, Donald Trump said that the CDC's advice to use "non-medical cloth face covering" is "voluntary." So, he, reportedly, thinks that he will not "going to be doing it."
It was said that the US President was "pressed to explain" his statements, which showed his "unwillingness to lead by example." As a response, he stated that he just doesn't want to wear one. "I'm feeling good," he added.
The 73-year-old politician, reportedly, continued to explain that he does not see himself wearing a mask while sitting in the Oval Office behind the "beautiful, great Resolute Desk." He also shared that he sees the same thing while meeting and greeting prime ministers, kings, queens, and other world officials. "I don't see it for myself," Donald Trump claimed. But, despite the statements and explanations, he ended his response by telling the audience that "maybe" he would change his mind.
In a similar scoop released by Al Jazeera, the recommendation and advice given by the CDC come after the United States has become the epicenter of COVID-19. Unfortunately, the confirmed cases in the country are now tallied more than 400,000 with over 13,000 deaths.
It was also noted that the advice to wear masks has been due in part to the fact that most of the carriers of the virus do not show symptoms. So, to avoid further transmissions, wearing masks, whether non-medical or not, would likely decrease the chance of this happening.
Donald Trump, reportedly, knows all of these points. It was shared that all of these things have been given to the daily briefings of the coronavirus task force.
Despite knowing it all, including the worsening condition of the country due to the pandemic, he seemingly does not want to follow the guidelines. This is why criticisms have been overflowing on various social media platforms toward the US President.
