Empire season 6 episode 18 is coming next week on Fox, with the title "Home Is on the Way." This episode now serves as the series finale, so be prepared for big and unexpected reveals. Originally, this episode wasn't meant to be the finale, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak and mass lockdown, the series opted for an alternative conclusion.
Although Empire season 6 episode 18 wasn't mean to be the series finale, there are still a lot of interesting stories here. The synopsis notes that amid the Bossyfest launch and fight to reclaim Empire, Cookie reflects on her life and who she is now as a woman. Meanwhile, Lucious finds it hard to deny his feelings for Cookie, but he still continues supporting Yana and her rise to stardom.
In addition, the Lyons will also be facing their biggest threat yet in Empire season 6 episode 18. The situation will lead to Lucious preparing for the battle of his life. But then, he will eventually realize that family is what matters the most. Based on the synopsis and episode title, it looks like the series' conclusion would be an emotional one.
Fox confirmed Empire season 6 episode 18 will now serve as the finale of the series. This is an understandable move, considering the current situation of the world as of late. So even though the series may deliver big reveals, as well as unexpected twists and turns, it may not bring the desired conclusion that everyone ones. But, cast and crew may have prepared something down the road.
In a report via CarterMatt, executive producers Lee Daniels and Danny Strong likely want to continue filming until the series reaches its original ending. While there's no guarantee for that at the moment, there's still openness in doing it. Daniels said he's heartbroken they weren't able to shoot the finale they wanted, at least not yet.
For Strong, he said they all love the originally planned finale for the series. He's hoping they could film it someday to deliver a proper conclusion for the show. Right now, nothing is confirmed about this matter, so it remains to be seen whether the series could indeed deliver the original finale. Everything still depends on the schedule of the actors, as well as the current health crisis.
