Despite the rise in the number of new COVID-19 cases in the United States, officials and the US President, Donald Trump said that the country has already "passed" the peak. This comes after the recent data has shown a significant decline in the new and confirmed cases of virus contraction these past few weeks.

With this at hand, it was said that the US leader has been very eager to reopen the United States, as much as possible. He, along with the other officials, has been reportedly looking at a May 1 reopening. However, some state governors and health officials were said to oppose the plan.

Earlier this week, though, Donald Trump was said to announce that the United States could already reopen some of the states "even tomorrow." He also reportedly claimed that he has the "power to lift" all the restrictions and guidelines put in place by state governors to help fight against the further spread of the novel coronavirus.

According to CNBC, however, New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, "ripped" the United States President over his claim that he has the "total authority" over all of the states' current responses and efforts to fight COVID-19. He also went on to note that Donald Trump's statements were "breaking of the Constitution." It has appeared that he basically declared himself "king," the governor added.

Aside from the power to lift the said restrictions in every state, the US President also reportedly shared earlier that he has the "ultimate authority." He even explained that, as the United States President, he "calls the shots."

The publication added that Donald Trump has been very "impatient" over the lockdown guidelines imposed by the governors in each state. It was said that while this has helped contain the further spread of the virus, it also "devastated" the country's economy.

As per The Independent UK, the "Opening Up America Again" plan is now prepared after the President has unveiled this before the public on recent briefings. He also reportedly said that this plan will include a "phased, deliberate approach."

Despite the criticisms over the plans to reopen the country, as it is deemed to be very "premature," Donald Trump, later on, said that the state governors will be calling the shots, which was a huge contradiction to what he said days earlier. In the end, he reportedly said that a "national shutdown" is not "sustainable," especially when talking about "long-term solutions."
