Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has been looking for a running mate for the 2020 United States presidential election in November. As the 77-year-old politician earlier said that he wanted his vice president to be a woman, he told James Corden on The Late Late Show with James Corden that he wanted to pick the Veep star, Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The show's host told the former vice president of Barack Obama that everyone was talking and wondering who his running mate would be. So, as an exclusive on his show, he asked who would be his vice president, per The Hill.
Joe Biden then told James Corden that he would say to him if he would only keep quiet, to which the 41-year-old actor assured that no one was watching them. "All right. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is going to be my person," the presidential hopeful revealed.
With the 59-year-old actress' experience on the HBO TV series, Veep, the former senator is convinced that she has "all the experience in the world." Although he's not sure if she will do it, she is his only choice.
The effectiveness of Julia Louis-Dreyfus role as vice president and later a president as Selina Meyer on her show made her won seven Emmy Awards for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. However, Joe Biden is, of course, only joking.
The award-winning actress can't help but respond to Joe Biden's offer. Although he thinks she is the perfect fit for the role, she refused and even made a subtle dig at Donald Trump. "@JoeBiden I accept, but I'm a completely unqualified tv personality. Are you sure I shouldn't be president?" she tweeted.
According to HollywoodLife, Julia Louis-Dreyfus' comment directly refers to the current U.S. President. Just like her, he had no political experience when he ran for the presidency in 2016. He used to be The Apprentice host and a businessman, making him completely unqualified for the seat, but he ran and won anyway. As this occured, Joe Biden told the Seinfield star that "stranger things have happened."
As the presidential candidate has yet to announce who is his running mate will be, speculations are rising about whom he will pick. However, he assured that he would announce the members of his selection committee, who would help him to choose and decide about it, on May 1.
There are rumors that Joe Biden's vice president may be Sens. Kamala Harris (Calif.), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) and Elizabeth Warren (Mass.). There are also hearsays that Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is on the list.
