In MacGyver season 4 episode 12, the team could be altered forever after Mac's Aunt Gwen gets to his head. She convinced her nephew and Riley to join Codex. It looks like Gwen is trying to manipulate Mac, probably to get what she actually wants.
Gwen may cause some major disruption, putting the Phoenix team in a difficult situation. She'll try to convince Mac and Riley to team up with Codex, even though they recognize it's a dangerous move. She was able to get inside Mac's head by talking about family and connection issues.
The main question here is whether or not Mac and Riley will, indeed, join the enemy. They need to make a wise decision as this could have a long-term effect in the future. Their actions may change the Phoenix team forever, so this wouldn't be easy for them -- especially for Mac.
They could possibly infiltrate and destroy the group, but there's no guarantee that the operation will be a successful one. Gwen is influential, which makes her a dangerous as a villain. This person believes in everything that she says and does.
One of the major issues for the remaining Phoenix members is contending with the event that Mac and Riley are gone. As for what else is coming in MacGyver season 4 episode 12, Russ and Matty take their concerns regarding Codex to the White House.
Meanwhile, the episode also features several guest appearances including Jeri Ryan as Gwendolyn Hayes, Zach McGowan as Roman, Amber Skye Noyes as Scarlett, Sean Blakemore as Danny Linson, Mary Elizabeth Kirkpatrick as Ella, and Martinez as Dr. Lee.
