The Conners season 2 finale is coming next week on ABC, with the title "Bridge Over Troubled Conners." The title alone suggests that big stories are coming within this episode and we're going to see the family dealing with different issues. Dan, in particular, is facing financial struggles.

In The Conners season 2 finale, Dan is dealing with his own problems and he's reluctant sharing with Louise. Eventually, he reveals to her his financial troubles, wherein he's struggling with the pending foreclosure of the house.

This particular storyline proved to be an emotional one, as we're going to see Dan doing whatever he can to save the house. He has to find a way out before it's too late. It also remains to be seen whether or not Louise will help him. And since this is the finale, this story may continue in the potential next season.

But apart from Dan's financial struggles, other characters also need to figure out what they want for their future. For instance, Ben and Darlene will go apartment hunting as they're now ready to take the next step in building a life together.

As for Becky and Jackie, they take Beverly Rose on a road trip to Mexico so she could meet her father for the first time. What's interesting about this episode is that it does not entirely focus on the events in the second season, but it also looks back on what happened in season 1.

The Conners season 2 finale may also leave some cliffhangers and will probably set up some big events moving forward. Although the third installment hasn't yet officially renewed, many were certain the series is coming back for more.

Previously, Deadline also reported that John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, and Laurie Metcalf all signed new deals to come back for season 3. While there are still other contracts and negotiations needed to be done, this already indicates the show is likely returning.

In terms of ratings, the show is averaging a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and over 5.7 million live viewers each week. Even though the digits were down compared to the first season, it's still the best comedy show currently airing on ABC when it comes to overall numbers. And if the global health crisis gets resolved, the third installment may possibly arrive in fall.

The Conners season 2 finale airs on Tuesday night, May 5, on ABC.
