Prince William and Prince Harry may appear to have a cold relationship right now, but the public has witnessed how close the royal brothers were growing up. In fact, the Duke of Cambridge even broke a royal tradition for his younger sibling on his wedding day.

Traditionally, there are no best men alongside the groom on their wedding days. Instead, they have “supporters." But Prince William and Prince Harry were so close that the older son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana decided to make his brother as his best man.

"Normally, a member of the Royal Family has his brothers as his supporters or joint best men,” royal historian Hugo Vickers said. "As Prince William has only one brother, and he is very close to Harry, it's an obvious choice."

For Prince William, having Prince Harry as his best man on his nuptials to Kate Middleton in 2011 "had more relevance to his life than the alternative.” The Duke of Sussex said to be “delighted” that his brother chose him. And on Prince Harry’s wedding day, he also appointed Prince William as his best man instead of a supporter.

Prince William and Prince Harry maintained their close relationship until the latter tied the knot with Meghan Markle in 2018. Whispers and speculations of a feud between the Cambridges and Sussexes started to make their rounds on the internet, especially after the latter couple decided to remove themselves from the joint foundation and created their own charity.

After that, Prince William and Prince Harry were believed to not be on good terms anymore. Although their gestures seemingly hinted that they are feuding, there was no confirmation about their fallout.

However, the younger prince seemingly admitted the alleged feud with Prince William in the TV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey. Prince Harry was asked, "There's been a lot of talk in the press about rifts with your brother. How much of that is true?" The Duke of Sussex didn’t beat around the bush and directly answered the question.

“Part of this role and part of this job, and this family being under the pressure it's under, inevitably stuff happens,” Prince Harry said. “But, look, we're brothers, we'll always be brothers. We're certainly on different paths at the moment. But I will always be there for him, as I know he'll always be there for me."

Although Prince Harry didn’t elaborate as to how it all started and what really happened, he did admit that they are “on different paths.”
