Meghan Markle has been doing charity works even before she and Prince Harry met and tied the knot in 2018. The Duchess of Sussex grew up in Los Angeles and her mother encouraged her to be helpful to others despite not having “much.”

Just like most people all around the world, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also can’t go out anytime they want due to the coronavirus lockdown. But reading about the global health crisis and how it affected a lot of people made the couple feel that they couldn’t just sit at home and do nothing, so they signed up as volunteers for Project Angel Food.

A new report then claimed that Meghan Markle’s passion for charity work is inspired by her mother Doria Ragland.

“Meghan didn't have much when she was a child, but her mom made sure they always gave back,” the source said. Director of Project Angel Food Richard Ayoub then confirmed the claim. “[Meghan] said she wanted to do something to give back on Easter and was talking to her mom and her mom told her that Project Angel Food needs help and Meghan said, 'Yes, brilliant,’” he said.

Meghan Markle’s mother lives just outside Los Angeles. Many believed that she is one of the main reasons why the Duke ad Duchess of Sussex chose to settle down in California to start their new life. However, the former actress can’t spend time with her mom at the moment due to the implemented coronavirus lockdown, which has recently been extended to May 15 in the Los Angeles area.

"Meghan jetted to LA amid the panic over the borders being shut down, but upon arriving they were quickly told it was too dangerous to isolate with Doria, so Meghan has been separated from her since their arrival,” the source said. "Despite being back in her home city, this isn’t the dream of returning home she’d imagined. It’s been a very isolating and lonely time for Meghan, who was desperate to get to her mum and have her be with her grandson, who she’s missing desperately."

The insider added that Meghan Markle is not too happy that their move to Los Angeles is not going well as planned. Aside from not spending time together, Doria will also not be able to celebrate Archie’s first birthday with them.

“It’s not been the return home she’d planned and it looks like she may be apart from her mum for a few months at least – meaning Doria will also miss Archie’s first birthday next month, which is a double blow,” the source continued.
