The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a great deal of inconvenience to businesses with most left with no recourse but to make the most out of technology. Tech companies are deemed likely to easily transition to that but it appears such has not prospered in the case of Nintendo. The work-from-home setup has left the Japanese company struggling as it tries to come up with games ideal for its followers.

With game development not progressing well, Nintendo finds itself struggling with what games it could offer for June. The annual June Direct event holds an unclear state with some suggesting that it may be scrapped or be held with lesser content or updates due to the coronavirus restrictions. And part of that reason is that the usual pace of coming up with new gaming content is far from usual, Venturebeat reported.

Hence, this is seen as the reason why Nintendo is reaching out to third-party developers and informing them that they may want to look for other avenues to unveil their new offerings. It is an unfortunate development where it is believed that the "Super Mario" franchise would be the center of attention. "Super Mario Bros." will celebrate its 35th anniversary in September.

That in mind, most are expecting plenty of "Super Mario" themed games coming out at the annual E3 event. The titles have yet to be confirmed although there are already suggestions. Among them include "Super Mario Galaxy" which is expected to be digitally remastered. Other game titles that are said to be in the works include "Mario 64," "Mario Sunshine" and "Paper Mario." Other titles possibly included are a 2D "Metroid" game and "The Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" sequel.

For now, it remains to be seen if Nintendo can find ways to cope up and release some games by June. The COVID-19 pandemic cases continue to rise although some countries have started to ease (or at least consider) lockdown restrictions. But tied up to that is the continued reminder of proper hygiene and the wearing of masks. There is no word on whether Nintendo has any plans of trying to lure back workers on their end although that could resolve their hardships for now.

Nintendo may want to come up with new gaming content, aware that most are restricted to homes and mostly turning to gaming as a means to keep themselves occupied. Some have old games in tow but releasing new ones should be welcome to most.
