Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially stepped down as senior royals two months after they announced that they will be withdrawing from their roles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex then moved to Canada before heading to Los Angeles, where they are currently living with their son Archie.
As if that’s not enough proof that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are changing Royal Family traditions, the couple recently did something different to mark their son’s first birthday. Archie just turned one on May 6 and many were expecting to see him on his special day. Since Kate Middleton had been sharing snaps of her and Prince William’s children to mark their special milestones, many were speculating that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will do the same as well.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shared more than just photos of Archie on his first birthday. Instead, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared an adorable storytime video and royal commentator Camilla Tominey believes that the couple is set to change up Royal Family traditions.
“The Sussexes are really changing it up there,” she said in ITV's This Morning. “Because normally you would just expect an official portrait. I really like this video. I thought it was really heartfelt. I don’t know how many times it had been rehearsed! It was quite funny hearing Harry in the background chuckling away. They seemed to be really grateful once it had been filmed."
Previously, Jeetendr Sehdev shared that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “going to show us all a different way in which royal family members can live.” The LA expert and author of “The Kim Kardashian Principle” then noted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s brand had always been disruptive.
“The closest comparison to Meghan and Harry will be the Obamas and what they’re actually doing, I mean they’ve created an entertainment entity where they’re producing documentaries and I think that will be a similar route that Meghan and Harry can certainly take,” he said. “Letting people into who they are – because at the moment we don’t really know who Meghan and Harry are. We just know that they’re part of the royal family.”
Meanwhile, eagle-eyed fans noticed something on Archie’s book on his birthday video that sparked their curiosity. The front page of the book “Duck! Rabbit!” that Meghan Markle was reading to her son has a small blue sticker on it. What made the mysterious sticker even more interesting is that it read “Archie’s Book Club.”
