Prince William is the elder son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana. He is now in his late 30s and has a family of his own. The Duke of Cambridge got married in 2011 to Kate Middleton and the couple has three young children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
What Made Prince William and Kate Middleton’s love story different from most members of the Royal Family is that the latter was born a commoner. They met each other in 2001 when they both attended St. Andrews University, struck up a friendship, and began dating in 2003.
Prince William gets along very well with Kate Middleton’s parents and siblings. In fact, the Duke of Cambridge appears to be closer to Michael and Carole Middleton than to his father Prince Charles.
“William adores them. He affectionately calls Kate's father ‘Mike’ and on occasion ‘Dad,’ even though it is said to prickle Prince Charles,” royal author Katie Nicholl wrote in 2011 issue of Vanity Fair. “Meanwhile, Carole is so smitten that her mobile phone screen saver is a picture of the prince. Because they do everything together, friends call them the En Masse Middletons. They are a close-knit family, which is one of the reasons William loves spending time with them and has joined his future in-laws on several trips.”
Prince William has nothing but good things to say about his in-laws. A friend of the family even shared that the Duke of Cambridge enjoys spending time with them.
“William loves his holidays with the Middletons because they are so relaxed,” they said. “He's always saying how much fun Carole is. She's very young in spirit and a great entertainer. One of her and Michael's favorite after-dinner party jokes is announcing the flights coming into Mustique in their best air-steward voices as they dine alfresco. It always has William in hysterics.”
Since Kate Middleton’s parents Michael and Carole Middleton are not royals, they were able to help Prince William feel what it’s like to have an ordinary life. No rules, no obligations, no pressure — this was the life that Princess Diana tried so hard to give her sons.
It seems that Prince William saw his mom’s personality in Kate Middleton’s family as he feels very at home with them. The Duke of Cambridge is so close with his in-laws that he used to lie down on Carole’s lap and spent hours talking to Michael.
