Queen Elizabeth keeps a separate Facebook account with a secret list of her personal friends. A report cites that Her Majesty has a special gadget that she uses for her private connections and it is, reportedly, quite impossible to be hacked into.

Among those who are aware of Queen Elizabeth's personal Facebook account and private gadget include John Warren, her racing manager. According to reports, Warren is the one of the lucky few who can get in touch with Her Majesty regardless of the time of day. The other person the Queen constantly talks to or exchanges text or chat messages with is Princess Anne, the Queen's daughter.

Apart from a mobile phone, the Queen also has an iPad and a laptop with all her personal accounts. Her grandchildren, Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, apparently taught her how to be tech savvy.

Reports also cited that the Queen's gadgets are all kept fully charged by her staff and personal assistant, Angela Kelly. Her Majesty carries around an ultra-slim cellular phone with a camera in her handbag but she doesn't use this in public. She also doesn't like it if people use technology when she is in the middle of a speech.

However, Queen Elizabeth has always embraced the use of technology and technological innovations from the very beginning of her reign 68 years ago. On the day of coronation in 1953, she allowed television cameras at the Westminster Abbey for the first time so that the whole world can watch her getting crowned. This ushered the sale of millions of TV sets in a week.

In the mid-70s, Queen Elizabeth sent her very first e-mail message on the ARPANET. In the late '90s, the official website of the British Royal Family was created and updated a decade later.

In 2007, the royals had their own YouTube channel. The Queen even visited the Google offices, which owns YouTube, where she uploaded a video on their account.

In 2009, Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family got their own official Twitter account but the monarch didn't make her first post until 2014. The royals subsequently had their own Facebook page and Flickr account. In 2013, the Royal Family signed on to their Instagram account.

These days when the Queen is isolating in Windsor Castle with Prince Philip to protect them from coronavirus, the monarch is, reportedly, in touch with her family, as well as her government leaders, through video calls. According to reports, she was given a crash course by her palace staff so that she can use FaceTime and Zoom.
