Wearing masks amid the pandemic crisis in the United States has seemingly become a "political statement," as per JS Online. Donald Trump refusing to wear one, especially when in public, has reportedly led many individuals to believe that it is not as important as what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health officials state about the matter.

But, what makes the whole "mask issue" more bothering, as per reports, is that the First Family is reportedly sending "mixed messages" to the public. As it happened, members of the Trump family reportedly show different stances on donning masks.

Since the emergence of the COVID-19 crisis, Donald Trump has been rarely seen wearing face coverings, like masks. It has appeared that he is against it.

The case is different, however, for his wife, Melania Trump. While the US President continued his daily briefings, alongside the coronavirus task force, the East Wing did several PSA videos encouraging the public to observe social distancing and wear masks.

For several weeks, this has been the focus of the First Lady. However, she recently received tons of criticisms when she attended the events to mark this year's Memorial Day.

Donald Trump's wife reportedly only wore her mask during their flight to Baltimore. But, for the rest of the day, she was not seen wearing any face covering.

As added by the New York Daily News, Ivanka Trump and her family were also sending "mixed" takes on masks and face coverings. As pointed out, the First Daughter and her husband, Jared Kushner, wore masks during their appearances at the SpaceX rocket launch in Cape Canaveral.

They were also seen wearing face coverings in their other public appearances. However, the publication revealed that this was not the case all the time. As shared, Ivanka and Jared were also seen not wearing masks, particularly during the tour at the space center.

The publication then asserted that these "mixed messages" from Donald Trump and the rest of the First Family set back the fight against the COVID-19 crisis in the country. CNN also said that the American leader's "reluctance" to wear masks largely sends a "fatal message" to the American people.

To date, over 1.7 million Americans contracted the novel coronavirus, and about 1.1 million of the total number are still an "active case." As for the total number of deaths, the United States has reached 103,670, with New York and New Jersey in the top spots.
