Kate Middleton's photography exhibit, "Hold Still," is getting quite popular just weeks after its launch. A lot of people in the U.K. have been submitting their photo entries about life in the coronavirus pandemic, including Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
According to People, Sophie took some photos of the volunteers she's been spending time with as they help communities affected by the coronavirus. The Countess of Wessex submitted the entry "Packed with Love" for Kate's initiative to depict the lives of volunteers selflessly doing good work in southern England.
The wife of Prince Edward specifically featured Ali, who has established a food parcel delivery service for the NHS workers and the vulnerable communities. She detailed that Ali volunteers at the local mosque every day for at least eight hours while still working in the evening.
Kate launched "Hold Still" in early May with the help of the National Portrait Gallery. Speaking on TV's This Morning, the Duchess of Cambridge said that she has been inspired by some of the images, both sad and uplifting, she has seen of people's lives while weathering through this pandemic.
So, Kate had the idea to launch a photo exhibit to capture the mood of the nation during this public health crisis. She said that since photos also show bravery, resiliency and even hope, she would like these immortalized in an online gallery.
The exhibit, which will be in August, will be done online only since mass gatherings are still not allowed in the U.K. Some 100 of the best photos will be showcased, as chosen by the Duchess of Cambridge.
In line with this, Kate has also been actively posting comments on Instagram in some of the photo submissions. People in the U.K. can still send in their photos, via the National Portrait Gallery's official site, since submissions will be closed on June 18.
Meanwhile, as the patron of the National Portrait Gallery, Kate has been quite enthusiastic about this project. As an avid photographer herself, Kate's passion for taking pictures - especially of her kids - has made her more in tune to the causes that she supports.
Over the last few weeks, Kate showed her prowess for taking photos when she released portraits of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who celebrated their fifth and second birthday while in lockdown in Anmer Hall. In July, Kate is also expected to release new photos of Prince George, who will be turning seven years old
