Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, is keeping up with her busy royal calendar. Apparently, despite the U.K. lockdown against the coronavirus or Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping back from their royal life, the wife of Prince Edward remains as busy as she has ever been.

The Queen's daughter-in-law said in an interview with The Sunday Times that nothing has actually changed in her royal workload. She's not aware that they are asked to do more for the royal family since Prince Harry and Meghan left.

It was speculated that the Wessexes would "pick up the slack" after Prince Harry and Meghan announced they were leaving their royal work in January. Royal experts predicted that Sophie would be the perfect person to carry over the responsibilities of the Sussexes because the Queen trust and rely on her the most.

But Sophie said that she's pretty busy as it is. She doesn't know how she's going to pack a few more workload if they will be asked to take more in. This suggested that the additional work, allegedly, demanded from the royals, amid the Sussex pair's exit, hasn't really happened despite the reports.

The Countess of Wessex has 70 patronages under her wing. Her interest lies in the welfare of children, sexual violence against women and agriculture. Some of these advocacies are a lot similar to the causes Meghan supports thus some royal observers speculated that Sophie was handed down work that were supposed to be for the Duchess of Sussex.

Speaking of Meghan, Sophie also acknowledged their similarities as someone with a middle-class background who married into the royal family. Like Meghan, Sophie also received a lot of media scrutiny and she said it took her five years to adjust to being the wife of Prince Edward. For a brief time during their engagement, she had to live in Buckingham Palace, where the pressure of being in the royal spotlight was an all-time high.

The Countess of Wessex has nothing but good wishes for Prince Harry and Meghan. She said that she hopes they are truly happy with their new life away from the royal spotlight in Los Angeles.

Incidentally, Sophie's brother-in-law, Prince Andrew, also had to step back from his royal duties in November due to his legal troubles in the U.S. The Countess of Wessex, however, refused to comment on Prince Andrew's recent controversies nor his friendship with the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
