Facemasks are some of the most valuable things our world has at present. Aside from disinfectants, alcohol, and soaps, these masks could help a lot in protecting people from the risks of having coronavirus. These acts as a barrier that could block the body fluids, which is basically the main factor of how the virus can be transmitted.

There are three kinds of masks most people are using nowadays. These include the N95, surgical, and fabric masks, as enumerated by Nova Health.

Among the three kinds, fabric masks are the one used by most people nowadays. Aside from being a lot cheaper as compared to the other two, fabric masks are also easier to find and purchase. You can even create one for yourself and for your family if you have the skill and the materials for it.

But as we wear these fabric masks, there are some things we should put in mind to increase its effectiveness and protection. Here are some of those.

BEFORE WEARING YOUR MASK

Before anything else, it is a must to always sanitize your hands first. Wash your hands with soap and clean running water for 20 seconds and make sure to lather all its parts clean. You can use whatever soap you have.

If you don't have any soap or clean water with you, alcohol or sanitizer is fine. Just make sure to clean every part of your hand too. Let it dry.

It is better to inspect whether your mask is clean and damage too. Damaged facemasks, of whatever kind, can be risky to use. It is also better to never use unclean masks.

WHEN WEARING YOUR MASK

As you put on your mask, make sure to cover your mouth, nose, and chin with it completely, leaving no spaces between the sides. You might also want to avoid touching it no matter what happened to avoid possible contamination or spread of the virus to your body, as advised by Health Line.

AFTER WEARING YOUR MASK

To remove your masks, make sure to clean your hands first by washing it again with soap and clean running water for 20 seconds. After doing so, you can already remove it by pulling out its ear straps and not through its fabric.

WASHING YOUR MASK

Washing your fabric masks won't require you to put a lot of bleach. A detergent or soap can already do the job. But if you want your mask to be more sanitized, you might want as well soak and wash it with hot water too.
